Christmas Toys

While Christmas may be a joyful time, it is often a highly stressful and depressing time for those who are highly disadvantaged due to financial, emotional and psychological stress.

At Gunawirra, we strive to ensure that over 2, 500 children in over 41 isolated regional and rural New South Wales preschools receive at least one present for Christmas. A large number of these children are Aboriginal. We are often told that the present a child receives from us has to be rewrapped so the child can receive at least one Christmas present at home!

Toy giving also opens a gateway for Gunawirra with isolated preschools. It enables  us to build long lasting and trusting relationships. In turn, this prepares the way for adoption of our educational and support programs to benefit   particularly Aboriginal children.

Our Christmas toys are donated by staff of  the Commonwealth Bank, St Vincent’s Hospital, ACP Magazines and the Men’s Workshop from St Joseph’s West Gosford. Without these wonderful and generous donors the program with all its benefits would not be possible.
