‘Law and culture is what makes governance strong. We come together to keep us strong’ - J Marriwal, Member of the West Amhem land Shire Transitional Committee Given the history and the diversity of the communities across Australia, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to share many cultural values and traditions to organise themselves, connect to each other. That is: to govern themselves. In Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people communities, in other words, it is culture that makes governance strong. The rule of governance is increasing due to the need to meet the challenges imposed by the complex relationships in our society. Pursuing governance and strategy within an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation means, first of all, understand how to embed cultural values in governance. Otello is a professional with experience in governance and strategy gained across governmental and non-governmental organisations including Not-for-profits.
